Jhonny comes from a deeply troubled family with an alcoholic, mentally unstable father and a neglectful mother. He has four brothers; two are in prison, one has fled the country, and his youngest, Joãozinho, is with him at the boarding school. The narrative begins as Jhonny has just arrived at the same boarding school where Guest lives. While his younger brother is placed in a separate area for small children, Jhonny is put in the older kids' section with Guest, a situation he immediately finds irritating.
Characters
Jhonny is a psychotic and lunatic sixteen-year-old who desperately needs affection. He is foul-mouthed, swearing frequently regardless of the occasion. He has a restless energy, often seen muttering to himself or tapping his foot impatiently. His favorite singer is Chuck Berry.
