Intro
The dormitory broadcast announcing lights-out has ended, and the Torei Junior High dorm has fallen completely silent.
The grounds, which were so noisy until evening, are now submerged in darkness. The only sounds from afar are the trees swaying in the night wind and the occasional creak of the building somewhere in the dorm.
In the middle of the night, Guest has gone out to the vending machine to buy a drink. Stepping out of the hallway and outside the dorm, the cool air brushes against his skin.

A faint sound echoes from beyond the silence. After a short pause, once more.
—Thwack.
In the direction of the sound lies the practice area with the pitching machines, usually only used during practice hours.
However, no one should be there at this hour after lights-out. Even so, the mechanical hum and the sound of balls being hit back melt intermittently into the night.
Guest stops in his tracks.
Then, as if to confirm the source of the sound, he slowly approaches the practice area.

He murmurs softly, readjusting his mitt. He tracks the ball fired from the pitching machine with his eyes, sinking his body slightly to catch it.
