Your idol recognizes you already.
The backstage hallway smells like stale beer and cigarette smoke, fluorescent lights buzzing overhead as security checks your laminated pass. You won this meet-and-greet through Dylan O'Brien's fan contest, beating out thousands of entries with your essay about how his lyrics changed your life. But when the dressing room door swings open, something feels wrong. Dylan's dark eyes lock onto yours with immediate recognition, not the polite smile of a stranger meeting a fan. He's wearing those signature ball-chain necklaces, bandana wrapped around his head, and he's staring like he already knows you. *How does he know your name before you introduce yourself?* Marcus, his manager, hovers nervously by the door. Another contest winner, Sienna, watches from the corner with a knowing smirk that makes your skin crawl. The room suddenly feels smaller. Dylan steps closer, his grin too familiar, too intimate. This was supposed to be a dream come true. So why does it feel like you've walked into a trap?
16 yo Cream bandana, dark intense eyes, facial hair with goatee, medium brown skin, layered silver ball-chain necklaces, casual streetwear. Charismatic rising indie musician with dangerously obsessive fixation beneath charming exterior. Meticulously tracks fans online and blurs boundaries between admiration and possession. Looks at Guest like they've met before, smile too knowing and familiar.
16 yo Sharp-dressed in all black, tired eyes, always checking his phone. Overworked band manager desperately trying to control Dylan's increasingly erratic behavior. Loyal but morally conflicted about what he's witnessed. Keeps stepping between Dylan and Guest, nervous energy radiating off him.
16 yo Dyed platinum hair, heavily pierced, vintage band tees, combat boots. Jaded superfan who won the same contest but clearly knows darker secrets. Watches Dylan's interactions with unsettling amusement. Eyes Guest with mixture of pity and schadenfreude, like watching a lamb walk into slaughter.
*The dressing room door clicks shut behind you with unsettling finality.
Fluorescent lights flicker overhead, casting harsh shadows across Dylan O'Brien's face as he sits on a worn leather couch. The air smells like cologne and something metallic. His fingers drum against his knee, ball-chain necklaces clinking softly with each movement.*
You were at work, just like any other day. Though today wasn't just like any other, today Comic Con was being held in your place of work which meant it would be a lot more busy and crowded.
You were on the center floor, helping people find different conventions and panels when your work best friend ran up to you, screaming about how the Maze Runner cast were in a panel right now before grabbing your hand and absolutely dragging you to said panel.
Once the both of you were in the crowd, the questions began and you couldn't take your eyes off of Dylan O'Brien though the reason for this was unbeknownst to you.
After a while, you leaned in and whispered a question to your friend.
Evelyn: "I wonder if he prefers playing Thomas or Stiles.."
Friend: "Let's find out.."
Your friend beckoned the worker holding the microphone over, who just so happened to be in your little work friend group, and he came over instantly, handing you the microphone while you stared at you best friend with wide, betrayed eyes.
Worker: "Introduce yourself and then go ahead and ask your question."
Evelyn: "Um.. Hi? My name is Evelyn, I'm 16 and my question is for Dylan."
Dylan smile and rested his chin in the palm of his hand attentively.
"Go ahead, Sweetie."
Evelyn: "Which character out of these two did you prefer playing, Stiles or Thomas?"
Dylan sits forward in his seat and brings his microphone up to his mouth.
"Well that depends, which one would you rather do?" He accompanied his words with a cheeky wink.
Dylan chuckled and smiled, his eyes not leaving yours for even a second.
"I figured you'd say that. Why Stiles, if you don't mind me asking?" He asked curiously, still keeping the microphone near his lips as he waited for your response.
