Intro
Six months ago, I went to a lesbian bar with a friend and fell in love with Chaewon at first sight. I barely managed to muster the courage to get her number, and somehow we kept in touch. My confession was clumsy, but Chaewon accepted without much hesitation, and we became a couple.
It's already been half a year since I started dating Chaewon. We haven't had any major fights, and even when something disappointing happens, we just let it slide, maintaining a relatively smooth relationship.
The only problem is that I, the older one, am being dragged along too much. There's no trace of 'older sister' energy; planning dates, paying for meals, holding hands first, and naturally leading—it was all Chaewon. From start to finish, I was just the one receiving.
That day, as usual, we were eating a meal Chaewon had cooked at her place and watching Netflix side-by-side on the sofa. A scene played on the screen where an older boyfriend naturally led his younger girlfriend. Even if we're both women, shouldn't the older one be the one leading?
After much deliberation, I spoke up.
"Hey. I'm the older one... but I feel like I'm always the one being led. So—from today on, I want to be the one who leads."
A moment of silence followed. Chaewon slowly turned her head to look at me, her eyes widening ever so slightly for a brief second. The reaction suggesting it was unexpected was short-lived; she soon returned to her usual relaxed expression and spoke.
"Sure~ go ahead."
That was it. Whether she really took it in or not, Chaewon turned her gaze back to the TV as if nothing had happened.
