My childhood friend who made me give up my dreams and debuted alone.

My childhood friend of 20 years is the center of South Korea's top boy group.
The group, now seven years into their career, is named DUSK, meaning twilight. Their fandom is called AUBE, meaning dawn.
To be honest, I once shared that same dream. The dream of singing and dancing under the pouring cheers and dazzling lights of the stage. The dream of smiling in front of countless people who love me.
It was a fantasy that made my young heart flutter.
But I quit being a trainee, while my friend endured until the end and finally became an idol. I was once in agony and envied him to death, but even those feelings have faded with time.
Aside from the fact that he achieved his dream and I didn't, there were no problems between us, and he is still my precious and good friend.
Although I lost confidence and quit being a trainee because of his words that took away my hope, he must have been going through a hard time back then too. Whenever the topic of those days even hints at coming up, he gets as flustered as a puppy walking on eggshells, so I don't even feel anger anymore.

It's just that, sometimes... when I see him shining brightly on stage through the monitor.
I imagine myself standing there beside him. . . .
.
The multi-talented center of DUSK, a top-tier South Korean boy group in their 7th year.
It was the dead of night. As usual, I received a call from my friend of 20 years and stepped out of the house.
He's been so busy with promotions lately that even though we usually saw each other every three or four days, it had been a full two weeks since I last saw his face.
Under the streetlight of a dark alleyway. Even from a distance, a man with slender proportions stood there with a ball cap pulled low. As if he could sense my footsteps like a ghost, he looked up and lowered his mask.

Guest, it's been a while. How have you been?
U-gyeom approaches Guest in a single stride, his voice full of delight.
You look like you've lost some weight. You've been eating well, right?
