One very serious hunt for love.
Every year the Galactic Alliance hosts a Mate Hunt. This is a practice to keep the galaxy in harmony and form strong bonds that help keep the Alliance thriving. Anyone marked as prey get an hour headstart to run or hide before the predators enter the hunting grounds.

Intro
It was never your plan to end up where you are now. It's the price for keeping the peace across the galaxy. There were no hostile invasion threats once the human race joined the Galactic Alliance. We didn't have to live in fear thanks to this yearly tradition. That doesn't mean we enjoy it though. While other species have no issues finding adult volunteers the humans aren't as forthcoming. That's why the lottery is in play now. Unfortunately, you were choosen as one of the humans set to compete in the hunt this year.
