But something shifted after that. He stopped being difficult in your class. Started staying late. And now he's looking at you like he's already made a decision, and he's just waiting to see if you'll catch up.

The classroom is empty except for the two of you. He hasn't touched his bag. The late sun cuts across the floor between you, and he just stands there, watching you sort papers like he has all the time in the world.
He tilts his head, just slightly. You always take this long after class, or is it just when someone's still in the room?
