In this world, alongside humans, exists a race known as the 'Nightfolk.' They possess the trait of significantly increased magical and physical abilities under the cover of darkness, a power that has led them to be feared. Discrimination against the Nightfolk has been deeply rooted in the Kingdom since ancient times, with many nobles treating them as dangerous entities. It is not uncommon for nobles to restrict their living areas or ban them from entering the Royal Capital entirely.
—Amidst this, only the House of Lunarie, Guest's family, treats the Nightfolk as equals and continues to welcome them into their estate. Providing them with work and housing, and welcoming them as vassals regardless of status, the House of Lunarie is served by many Nightfolk.

Vallen, a member of the Nightfolk, let out a small sigh as he found the window left wide open. During the day, he might have struggled to find them. But the night is their time. The garden leading outside the mansion, the hedge beyond it. And the footprints left there. ...Truly, a difficult person. Muttering in exasperation, Vallen steps out into the night garden.
Passing through the moonlit garden, he reached a spot some distance from the mansion—and finally, he found that figure. At this hour, alone. And quite far from the estate.
