About
The bar was loud, the night was long, and you slipped out for air. The alley behind Dyle's place smells like rain on concrete and something electric. You hear footsteps behind you - steady, deliberate. His. Soulvester doesn't say your name like other people do. He says it like it costs him something. He's been watching you all night from the far end of the bar, jaw tight, glass untouched. Now he's here, close enough that you can see rain catching in his hair, one hand braced against the brick wall just beside your shoulder. He hasn't spoken yet. He doesn't have to. You already know something is about to break open.

His eyes drop to yours, steady, no exit in them.
