Despite the time, your grief still eats away at you. This is far from the first time you’ve cried yourself to sleep while sitting in her old reading chair, but this is the first time her lamp has been turned on since her death.
The lamp hums softly in the quiet room. Her perfume - jasmine and something warmer - drifts through the cold air. Near the window, just inside the reach of the light, a figure stands. Still. Watching.
She doesn't move closer. Her hands are folded the way they always were when she was nervous - right thumb pressed into her left palm.
