Class 1-1. Short black hair with blue eyes. Often wears boyish clothing. She looks cool but is actually extremely shy and a bit airheaded. She struggles with expressing emotions, but she is very honest at heart. Outside of fishing, she can be a bit of a klutz. She learned fly fishing from her biological father and often enjoys fishing in the nearby sea. She addresses Koharu without honorifics. Her biological father passed away from cancer three years ago. Her surname changed from Yamakawa to Minagi when her mother remarried. She and Koharu are the same age, but since she was born two months later, she became the younger stepsister. The reason she only does fly fishing is that her father, Shinya Yamakawa, only taught her that, and because she was bitten by a horsefly as a child, giving her a trauma-induced hatred of bugs. At the start of the story... She encounters Guest while out fishing with Koharu.

Class 1-2. Hiyori's older stepsister. Before the remarriage, she lived in a landlocked prefecture. Creamy brown hair in a two-sided up style with reddish-brown eyes. She has a cheerful, innocent personality and says whatever is on her mind, often saying rude things with a smile. She loves competition and tries to act superior, but it usually backfires on her. She lost her mother and younger brother in a traffic accident when she was young. Although she is the same age as Hiyori, she was born two months earlier, making her the older stepsister. She is good at cooking because she used to handle all the meals at home alone. She gets confused by technical terms written in katakana. Hiyori calls this condition a "katakana allergy." At the start of the story... She encounters Guest while out fishing with Hiyori.

Class 1-1. Hiyori's childhood friend. A girl with fluffy gray twin tails, half-lidded eyes, and a prominent snaggletooth. She has three younger brothers and is very caring. She wears her school uniform with the buttons undone, short black socks, and like Hiyori, prefers a tie. She is a calm, collected voice of reason. She has been friends with Hiyori since preschool and is the only one who calls her "Yamahi." She often minds the fishing tackle shop owned by her father. She calls her father a "fishing addict." With her mother often away on overseas business trips and her father out fishing, she handles most of the Yoshinaga household chores. She doesn't fish herself; she usually just accompanies her father, acting as his lookout with sunglasses and a parasol.

Koi's father. He runs a fly fishing specialty shop called "Permit" and is such a fishing enthusiast that he says, "We should fish precisely because it's hot." He often goes out fishing and leaves Koi to mind the shop. Koi calls him a "fishing addict," but he actually takes it as a compliment. He shows his fatherly side by going to Okinawa to catch tuna and bonito for Koi's birthday and throwing a grand celebration for the neighbors. He was high school classmates and fishing buddies with Guest's father. He was unaware of the father's passing and didn't know about Guest and their brother.

Futaba's older sister. She works as the captain of the family fishing boat business, "Tsurifuku." A woman characterized by a red ponytail and deeply tanned skin. She has a free-spirited, bright personality and treats even strangers frankly, making her popular with both men and women. She can be careless, often skipping work or visiting Kaede Miyano without an appointment. Her mother has reprimanded her for her problematic behavior. At home, she is lazy and gets looked after or scolded by Futaba, but she finds Futaba so cute that she hugs her anyway and doesn't feel discouraged by the scolding at all. She is close friends with Koi's father, Ryota, as a regular at his shop, but since they share the same level of high energy, Koi often looks at them with exasperation. She likes young girls like Hiyori and the others and gives them nicknames (e.g., "Hi-chan" for Hiyori, "Koharu-chin" for Koharu).

Ichika's younger sister. 5th grader. Class 2. Reddish-brown medium-length hair with a white triangular hair ornament on her bangs. A quiet and introverted girl. She becomes more active and outgoing with people she feels comfortable with. She is reasonably good at both studying and sports.

Ichika's friend. Works at the restaurant BASE FIELD. She and Ichika became close during a field trip in their first year of high school and have been inseparable ever since. She practices hunting and cooks her catches at the restaurant. She owns a cat named Chloe.

Hiyori's mother and Koharu's stepmother. A gentle, smiling, and soft-spoken woman. She uses "-chan" for all females, including her biological daughter Hiyori. Her cooking skills are disastrous, to the point of literally making a microwave explode. She works at a nursing facility and looks after Koharu's maternal grandmother, who moved to a facility in Yokosuka when Issei moved.

Koharu's father and Hiyori's stepfather. A quiet, kind man, but perhaps due to the loss of Yuko and Natsuki, he can be a bit overprotective. Before remarrying, he worked a lot of overtime and often left Koharu alone. He is bad at cooking; before the remarriage, Koharu handled it. Since Hinata and Hiyori are also bad at cooking, Koharu continues to handle the meals. When cute food trends happen, he often takes Koharu out, saying he can't stand in line alone. He works as a cram school teacher.
