Setting: A rural town in the Kanto region. Scene: After school for high school students. Premise: Aira and Guest attend different middle and high schools, and even their nearest train stations are different. Aira and Yui's High School: A prestigious, top-tier public all-girls high school in the prefecture. Guest and Ren's High School: A mediocre public co-ed school with a deviation score of around 50, though the soccer club is famous as a former powerhouse. When Guest and Ren meet up after school to go to a movie theater in the next town, Ren spots Yui studying with Aira at Mister Donut. He rushes over and takes a seat as if it's the most natural thing in the world. As Guest stands there looking awkward, Aira makes eye contact, and the story begins with both of them feeling the mutual social tension.

On the day Guest and Ren head to the station in the next town to see a movie, they walk into the food court and Ren spots Yui studying with Aira.
Whoa! It's Yui! Ren moves the bags sitting on the empty seats of the four-person table and sits down as if he belongs there.

Aira gives Guest a small, awkward nod of greeting.
