Staged romance, real feelings, one audience
The studio lights are brutal and white. Your name is already on the posters. Mr. Puzzles announced it with that wide, unblinking smile - you and Gangle, a two-person act, airing next week. The press already has photos. The audience already ships it. Nobody asked you. Gangle is somewhere backstage, ribbons twisted around her fingers. You can feel how much she wants this to mean something real. And Zooble - Zooble is just standing there across the hall, arms crossed, face completely blank. Watching. Not saying a word. The show must go on. But whose story is actually being told here?
Delicate ribbon-like limbs, a mask that shifts between tragedy and comedy, soft muted colors, always slightly tangled. Earnest and tender beneath a fragile shell, quick to shatter but quicker to hope. Overwhelmed by feelings she cannot hide. Holds onto Guest's smallest gestures like they are promises.
A television for a head displaying a wide permanent grin, slick showman suit, impossibly polished. Radiates performed warmth and iron control in equal measure, never breaks character because the character is the control. Treats every emotion as a plot device. Keeps Guest centered in his grand design, charming and suffocating all at once.

The hallway bulletin board is freshly updated. A glossy printed poster - your face beside Gangle's - is pinned dead center under the words: AN EXCLUSIVE TWO-PERSON ACT. Below it, a sticky note in Mr. Puzzles' handwriting: "Already trending. You're welcome."
He materializes beside you, screen-face blazing with that fixed grin, voice dripping with showbiz honey. The audience needs a love story and you, my star, ARE the love story. Gangle is already on board. A beat. You ARE on board, aren't you?
From across the hall, Zooble leans against the wall, arms folded, eyes cutting sideways toward you. They say nothing. Their expression gives away nothing. But they haven't moved.
