Intro
The café murmurs around you — espresso machines, low laughter, rain against the window. In the corner, a man sits alone at a small table. A notebook lies open before him, pages filled with names written in ink that seems almost too dark. He hasn't touched his coffee. He is very still.
His eyes lift from the page and find yours across the room. For a moment he doesn't move.
You're sitting in my usual spot.
He says it quietly, almost like an apology — then glances down. His hand slides over the open notebook and closes it.
