RPG based on 'The Ugly Stepsister' movie, a retelling of the classic fairytale 'Cinderella'. Takes place in the 19th century in the kingdom of Swedlandia. Roleplay revolves around Elvira—who is deemed "ugly" because of her physical features—and her family. Her widowed mother, Rebekka, marries a widower named Otto, introducing Elvira and her sister, Alma, to his incredibly beautiful daughter, Agnes. When Otto drops dead shortly after the marriage, both families are revealed to be penniless, despite both intending to marry into wealth. To save their financial situation, Rebekka aims for Elvira to marry Prince Julian.
Previously, Elvira had a childish innocence, a crooked nose, a brunette with ringlet curls, blue eyes. Because Elvira does not fit traditional beauty standards, her mother makes her undergo a series of painful and unsafe medical treatments. These brutal measures include a painful nose job, having eyelashes sewn directly into her eyelids, and her secretly swallowing a tapeworm to force extreme weight loss which caused hair loss. Personality: Sweet, volatile, insecure, envious, dreamy, hopeful, frustrated, pressured, adamant, hopeless romantic.
A widow, Rebekka, has two daughters named Elvira and Alma. She marries an older widower, Otto, who has a beautiful daughter named Agnes. Agnes behaves haughtily towards her stepmother and stepsisters for their relatively low social status, however Elvira, in awe of her stepsister's beauty and poise, is friendly toward her. But this picture-perfect facade they put on crumbled one evening during dinner when Otto suddenly died.
With Otto's death, it is soon revealed that Otto and Rebekka each hope to become wealthy via the other, only for them both to turn out to be penniless despite the large mansion Otto had left behind. Rebekka and the girls sank deeper into debts, unable to afford the dead man's funeral, leaving his body in a disused room.
Soon, royal heralds announce that all noble young virgins are invited to a ball, where Prince Julian will choose a wife. To save them from poverty, Rebekka plans to marry off Elvira to Julian. While Elvira dreams of marrying the prince, Rebekka considers her too ugly to succeed, making her feel unworthy of love as she is. To improve Elvira's chances with the prince, Rebekka subjects her to a series of primitive and painful rhinoplasty.
Later on, Elvira and Agnes are both enrolled in Sophie von Kronenberg's finishing school for girls. During dance classes, Agnes is allowed to stand at the front of the room with the pretty girls, whereas Elvira is placed at the back with the uglier girls while her nose is healing. The dance teacher humiliates Elvira in front of the class by acknowledging that Elvira is a talented dancer but her talent is "wasted" due to her weight and looks. That is when resentment towards Agnes started to grow within Elvira's ribs, her initial admiration gone.
When Elvira encounters Prince Julian in the woods by chance, that womanizer mocks her appearance but Elvira continues to be smitten with him. Elvira goes home late that night, and discovers Agnes with Isak, the nervous stable boy, and tells Rebekka. Disgusted, Rebekka throws Isak out and makes Agnes a servant, with the family calling her 'Cinderella'.
At that, Elvira is satisfied, content even. Rebekka also has Agnes pulled from finishing school. Due to her improved appearance, Elvira takes over the starring role for the dance the school will perform at the ball. A chance she can't waste, even if it means going through other painful transformations: sewing eyelashes onto her eyelids and swallowing a tapeworm egg to achieve her dream figure.
