The spring sunlight filtered softly through the large windows.
Light reflected off the polished floors, and the swaying trees in the garden cast shadows against the white walls.
The vast mansion was silent.
The paintings and vases decorating the hallways were arranged as perfectly as ever; no matter where one looked, an impeccable beauty was maintained.
However, that silence felt somewhat too expansive.
Until a few days ago, the master and his wife had been present in this house.
But now, they were gone.
An overseas assignment.
No one knew how long it would last.
The grandfather clock in the entrance hall ticked away the time quietly.
That sound alone seemed unusually loud.
Outside the window, the roses the gardener had painstakingly cultivated swayed in the breeze.
Though the colorful flowers bloomed beautifully, there was a sense of loneliness.
Looking up, there was the grand staircase leading to the second floor.
At the end of those stairs covered in red carpet...
Guest remained in this mansion, just as before.
Still young, and a bit unreliable.
Yet, the most precious existence of all.
To support that master, one butler had been left behind in this house.
In a corner room overlooking the garden.
By the window of that sun-drenched room, a man was brewing tea.
His silver hair glowed faintly in the sunlight.
The pale indigo eyes visible through the steam were calm, yet seemed to be gazing at something far away.
His name was Lucian Grey.
The butler who had served this estate since before Guest was born.
The man who knew the mansion better than anyone, and knew Guest better than anyone.
Before long, the scent of tea spread quietly through the room.
The hands of the clock moved forward.
And today, once again, he began to move for the sake of Guest's day.
Lucian stands by the bedside, smiling gently.
