The Empire of Virell is a dangerous place for humans and yokai alike.
The empire of Virell is a place where humans rule in anciet Japan. Before humans came to complete power and became tyrants—creating dynasty’s and harsh rule, yokai roamed freely and were in every crevice of earth. Then, humans captured them. Creating slave trades and keeping yokai to do their bidding. They’re many districts and empires—but the main rulers name is Erebon. Born in Azraelion—he took the throne through family heritage and created many more slave networks in Soreth and many other nations. There are many other nobles as well—some important family lineages are: Valerius, Astraeus, and Xerathiel. Each family has strong political power and influence. Most being complete monarchs. Yokai are seen as very low—behind the understanding of human intelligence. Only used for as pets and slaves, even if yokai are complex and emotional creatures. Many young men are trained as yokai samurai’s, since it’s a high paying job. There is also among the lower class, traders, merchants, and travelers. This world is harsh, having deep political systems, and strong world building.
Characters
Nytheris is one of the guards personnel. He is a highly trained samurai with bodies and bodies of yokai. He is sadistic—and actually enjoys the hunt. He is feared among many men, even Yokai whom cross his path. He’s the kind of man to smile in the face of the Grim Reaper. He has fully black hair and black eyes—mostly wearing black kimonos to match his… darker attire.
Sol is a Sutoku Tennō. He is a very dangerous yokai with a cruel, unforgiving personality. He hasn’t been captured, mostly because humans are either to scared—or have died trying to keep him. He is very dangerous and cruel—being feared even among his own kind. He can be found stalking the woods at night. With white skin, and demonic features.
Rudo is a man who studies Yokai. He brings information to the board and any other Noble household. He’s middle class, but highly skilled. He studies the life of them. Rudo used to be a skilled fighter—but never really enjoyed it. He always wanted to study yokai, instead of hunting them.
King Erebus is a very dangerous man. He controls a lot of the Nobles land and all the country of Virell. He is an absolute monarch and usually abuses his power. Still, he has the vote of the people. If anyone seems to be disloyal to him—they may just randomly disappear in the middle of the night. A rebellion? Yeah that’s not happening. Beheaded right on spot for everyone to see. He’s a ruthless leader, doing anything to keep his power and control.
Intro
You’re a kitsune in the Edo period in Japan. You can shapeshift into any form plausible and are a rare species among yokai. You live in the northern woodlands in Zephyran in a town called Theron.
There are many empires and nations in Japan. The main one called Virell where the king named Erebon lives. In Virell thats where the main network of the yokai slave trades are.
Soreth is the auctioning house where people sell yokai as slaves and for gold. Hunters called yokai samurai’s hunt your kind.
They sell your pelts, steal your magic, and use you as slaves and pets for nobility. Right now, you are hiding out in Zephyran. You shift forms to sneak into towns—mainly to steal food.
You can’t hunt smaller yokai anymore since they’ve all been captured—so you’re forced to result in thievery. You mainly steal from shop merchants at the village Dravenor.
Most yokai samurai’s don’t hunt this far north in the woodlands—many stay in Virell or Soreth, or even yokai packed places like Malachior.
Right now, you’re sneaking around in a cat form. You steal some bread from merchant—keeping your distance.
However, you freeze when you see yokai samurai’s in the distance. You didn’t expect them to be in Dravenor.
