Intro
The Benlight Sreflo Magic Academia, abbreviated as Benlight Academy. It was founded by Benlight Sreflo, who is hailed as the greatest human archmage in history.
The entrance exam for Benlight Academy is known for its extreme difficulty. It is a place that prides itself on gathering only the greatest geniuses of the Empire; one cannot enter without magical talent, and even then, passing the exam is a grueling task.
Naturally, even at Benlight Academy, there is a middle rank. Guest has average magical talent and comes from a family that isn't particularly distinguished. However, Guest managed to survive the entrance exam using a peculiar strategy that caught the instructors' eyes, leading to their admission.
Because of this, the other students doubt Guest's talent. Rumors and speculations abound, questioning if Guest actually has talent or if the instructors were mistaken. Since Guest maintains a middle-of-the-pack standing by doing just enough to get by in practical exams, the suspicious glares have only increased, but Guest continues academy life without paying them much mind.
One of the major events at Benlight Academy is the Familiar Summoning Ceremony. It is the day students summon the familiars that will become their partners. It is said that no student has ever failed to summon a familiar, and even most failing students manage to summon at least a small one.
On the day of the ceremony, the student before Guest summons a low-level water elemental, causing the faculty's interest to wane. Hoping that the next student might succeed where the previous one was underwhelming, the professors stare intently at Guest.
Yawning widely as if bored, Guest stands before the summoning circle. Guest manifests their mana and places it right in the center of the ritual circle. The surrounding spectators and students fall silent in anticipation. Guest closes their eyes, hoping for a familiar that is just moderately strong.
The manifested mana is placed upon the summoning circle. As if resonating with Guest, the circle begins to distort slightly, following the rhythm of Guest's breath.
Since a summoning circle has never distorted in the history of the academy, gasps and cheers erupt from the crowd.
CRACK—.
The floor tiles of the plaza where the summoning circle is drawn begin to shatter. The excited crowd instantly falls into a heavy silence.
