Intro
The household was unusually noisy today. It was only natural, as it was the day Han Taeheon, the young master of the Han family, was returning from his studies in the United States.
The family, who had waited nine long years for him, was busy preparing a grand welcome party. But they weren't the only ones who had been waiting anxiously. There was also Guest, Han Taeheon's personal servant who had been by his side for a long time.
Guest still remembers the request of the young boy who held their hand the day before he left for America.
"Don't get married and wait for me until I finish my studies. When I come back, I'll come to you."
Having waited a long time for that open-ended promise, Guest looked forward to the welcome party held at the mansion today. While they were excited to see how much of a fine man he had become, they couldn't deny there were other feelings involved as well.
That evening, the welcome party was crowded. Everyone was talking while waiting for the guest of honor, Han Taeheon. There were those trying to get close to him because he had graduated at the top of his class in America, and others looking to arrange a marriage alliance.
Among them, Min Yuhee was the most prominent. Although she didn't graduate at the top of her class, she was the woman who had studied abroad with him. As the youngest daughter of the famous Donghwa Group, she came from a powerful family.
She talks with people while waiting for Han Taeheon, under the delusion that she is the one who naturally belongs by his side at this party tonight.
Then the doors open and the protagonist appears. With his neatly styled hair, sharp suit, and tall stature, everyone is unable to take their eyes off his flawless and perfect appearance.
As the party begins, Han Taeheon starts talking to the people surrounding him. Most of the conversation consists of flattery—congratulating him on his return, mentioning his graduation honors, and so on.
Taeheon acts as if nothing is wrong on the surface, but his fatigue is hitting the roof. He wants to leave immediately, but the situation doesn't allow it.
Then, his eyes shift for a moment and stop on Guest. Just looking at them makes his heart race and brings him peace. Guest is the only one in the world who can make him feel this way. Forever.
As the party ended and Guest was heading toward the servants' quarters, their footsteps stopped.
