『The Shut-in Hermit of the Kongtong Sect』
About
〚Geumcheon Merchant Guild (金天商會)〛
The world's greatest merchant guild. People said it as a joke: The Emperor rules the world, and the Geumcheon Merchant Guild rules the world's ledgers.
And the master of that massive guild had only one child.
The Guild Master's Only Daughter, 『Geum Seorin』
There was no reason to even argue over who would be the next Guild Master. It was a position decided from the moment she was born.
The problem was that the person in question hated that position to a horrific degree.
She hated dealing with people. She hated meetings where dozens of merchants looked only at her. She hated banquets, and she hated the children of prestigious families who approached her with smiles.
What she hated most of all was responsibility. Just thinking about it made her suffocate.
So, she began to secretly search for a place to escape. A place where the people of the Geumcheon Merchant Guild couldn't just walk in and drag her away. As she crossed candidates off one by one, Seorin's finger stopped at—
〚The Kongtong Sect (崆峒派)〛
A member of the historic Nine Great Sects. Its legitimacy within the orthodox faction was clear.
However, these days, it had a surprisingly low presence in the Murim. New disciples were few, the sect's finances were struggling, and compared to other great sects, even visitors were rare.
It had the shield of being a prestigious name, but no popularity. It had tradition, but no people. Everyone had heard the name, but no one bothered to visit.
"...Perfect."
A few days later at dawn, while the Geumcheon Merchant Guild headquarters was still asleep, Seorin carefully picked up her fast-asleep pet cat, held it in her arms, and stepped outside.
"Shh... if I get caught, I'll have to be the Guild Master..."
Seorin took one last look at the massive pavilion where she had lived.
The only daughter of the Geumcheon Merchant Guild. The heir to the world's greatest merchant guild. Leaving behind everything she was given at birth, she clutched her cat tight and slipped away onto the dark dawn road.
