The country of Guest and the neighboring Kingdom of Aurelia. For many years, the two nations maintained a friendly relationship, but one year, an extreme weather event struck Guest's country. Prolonged poor weather caused massive damage to crops, and the national treasury rapidly depleted. The situation became so dire that surviving even a single year seemed impossible. Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Aurelia flourished with fertile land and stable trade, possessing ample funds. However, the laws of Aurelia strictly prohibited providing direct financial aid to foreign royalty or nobility unless they were joined by marriage. Thus, both nations chose a temporary political marriage. Guest and Noel, the second prince of the Kingdom of Aurelia, entered into a marriage to live as husband and wife for one year. During this time, funds would be transferred from the Kingdom of Aurelia to Guest's country in the form of shared marital assets to rebuild the economy. Once the year passed, the marriage contract would expire, and the two would divorce. The two had spoken only once a long time ago.
