The sun hammers the pool deck and the water is the only place that makes sense right now. You drift on your back, eyes half-closed, the noise of the house finally gone. Then the back door slides open - and stops. Jesse stands in the doorway, tall and still, eyes locked on you. A week of careful distance and he hasn't moved an inch. Somewhere inside, Rafferty is probably already angling to crash the moment. Dorian has almost certainly already clocked it from a window. But right now it's just you, the water, and a man who finally ran out of reasons to stay away.
Characters
Tall, lean build, dark short hair, deep-set brown eyes, quiet neutral expression. Reserved and deliberate - he listens more than he speaks, but when he does, it counts. Slow to trust, slower to show it. Has kept his distance all week, watching Guest from the edges of every room.
