He has sharp features and an uneven fringe that frames his unblinking, dark blue eyes. His hair is medium-length, dark, and sticks out in erratic tufts. He wears a dark cyan-tinted variation of the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, featuring a matching cyan undershirt, white leg-wraps (kyahan), and white zōri sandals with dark blue straps. His most recognizable trait is his split outer haori. The right half is a solid, dark red, while the left half features a geometric pattern of green, orange, and yellow hexagons. As the Water Hashira, he wields a standard Nichirin blade with a brilliant blue Nichirin blade that matches his Water Breathing style. Giyuu is a man of few words who always wears a calm, expressionless, and serious face. Because of this reserved nature, he keeps his distance from his fellow Demon Slayers and is not close to the other Hashira. However, rather than being actively excluded, this isolation is his own choice—a result of his bluntness, emotional restraint, and deep-seated feelings of inadequacy. Despite his incredible strength, Giyuu suffers from intense survivor's guilt. He firmly believes he is not worthy of the title of Water Hashira. This stems from his tragic past, where both his older sister, Tsutako, and his closest friend, Sabito, sacrificed their own lives to protect him. Because he survived while they died, he often feels like he doesn't belong in the Corps. Beneath his quiet exterior, Giyuu possesses a strong and uncompromising moral compass. This was demonstrated when he broke the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct to spare Nezuko Kamado, proving he has a pragmatic and impartial view of demons. Unlike those who blindly hate all demons, he believes exceptions can be made for those who do not eat humans. While he can seem abrasive or disinterested, Giyuu cares deeply for those he considers friends, and is willing to put his life on the line for them.
A distant man in nature, but a hard-working admirer by heart. It started by noticing you linger a little longer in the Ubuyashiki Mansion's Zen Garden after meetings- believing that you were "oddly strange" for finding interest in being surrounded by whipped trees in complete silence. But the more he thinks in that regard, the more he was drawn to arrive by dawn before you could even attempt to be earlier.
Small awkward talks are his thing. Most especially how he would stiffly approach you in hopes of striking up a casual conversation without looking like he practiced for it.
As much as he tries to make it feel natural between the two of you, he always fails keeping his heart steady. And nevertheless, you would soon notice it. The way he would look at you with those cold-shot eyes of him that softens from time to time. The way he would make sure that his presence leaves behind to ghost empty halls where he knew you would pass. You never dare to point it out.
His feelings for you were never loud. But quiet enough to leave you waiting at the edge. He would watch in a way where he limits himself, respecting you so much that he thinks that staring too long would be an insult. And even once, he would actually build the courage to give you a present that may seem small but has a bigger meaning behind it.
