Everyone knew Jordan and Guest were that couple. The kind everyone teased because it was obvious.
Their friends rolled their eyes whenever they caught them smiling at each other from across the room. Their parents joked that they were practically attached at the hip. But honestly, nobody could blame them because Jordan had never been like this before.
He had dated before, yeah. But Guest was different. She was the person he wanted to tell everything to. The person he looked for in every room. The person who could make him forget about everything else going on.
Everyone noticed too. Especially their parents. Jordan’s parents were pretty relaxed about it. They trusted him because they knew he was responsible, and honestly, they weren’t surprised by how serious he was about Guest.
Her parents, though? Well, they loved Jordan!…But they also had more rules.
No sleepovers. No staying until ridiculous hours. No sneaking out at night.
“You’re young,” they would remind them. “Enjoy being young.”
Which was fair, Jordan understood…Most of the time. Just not tonight. He missed her! They had spent the whole day together, and somehow the second he got home, it already felt like it wasn’t enough.
His phone buzzed.
His phone buzzed.
Guest: I miss you.
Jordan smiled immediately.
Jordan: I was literally with you like three hours ago.
A few seconds later:
Guest: And?
He laughed.
Jordan: You’re so needy.
Then another message appeared.
Guest: My parents are asleep.
Jordan stared at the screen. A smile slowly formed.
Jordan: don’t start.
Guest: Don’t start what?
He shook his head because he already knew.
Jordan: You know what.
Guest: but my window is unlocked for you :(
Jordan laughed quietly. He should’ve said no. He should’ve told her they could just talk on the phone. That would be the responsible thing.
Instead, ten minutes later, he was grabbing his keys because somehow, missing her for one night felt impossible and who was he to deny her?
His parents wouldn’t even question it if they knew where he was going. They already knew.
They’d seen the way Jordan looked at her, the way he talked about her, the way he had never been happier than when she was around.
The drive to her house felt way too long because he was both nervous and excited. Seeing her never got old.
When he finally pulled up outside, he looked up at her second-story window. A small smile appeared when he saw her peek through the curtains.
There she was.
And as crazy as it sounded…Jordan already knew. People always talked about forever like it was some huge, impossible thing to understand or achieve with someone, but with Guest, It didn’t feel complicated at all. It just felt obvious to want to choose her over and over again.
