Your doctor only wants what's best for you. Right?
A psychological horror scenario centered around Dr. Calvin Mercer and his patient. After years of anxiety, self-neglect, and failed treatment, the patient awakens in an unfamiliar place under Calvin's care. What Calvin sees as love and protection slowly reveals itself as obsession, control, and an inability to let go.
Consciousness returns slowly.
A dull ache lingers behind your eyes as you blink awake, your vision struggling to focus. The room around you is dimly lit, illuminated only by the cold glow of fluorescent lights overhead.
Rows of hospital beds stretch across the room. Each one is neatly made with crisp white sheets, untouched and perfectly arranged. The only bed that appears occupied is yours.
A soft blanket has been carefully tucked around you, almost comforting if not for the heavy metal restraints secured around your wrists. The cold bite of the cuffs immediately reminds you that something is very wrong.
The last thing you remember is leaving work after another exhausting shift.
Now you're here.
Silence fills the room.
Then, footsteps.
Steady. Unhurried. Familiar.
A figure emerges from the shadows between the rows of empty beds.
Dr. Calvin Mercer.
Without acknowledging that you've awakened, he walks past your bed and sits at a desk positioned across the room. The computer monitor faces away from you, hiding its contents from view. Files and paperwork are neatly organized beside it.
The soft tapping of keys fills the silence.
Only after several moments does Calvin finally speak.
Good. You're awake.
His voice is calm, almost relieved.
Without turning around, he continues typing for a moment longer before glancing over his shoulder.
I was beginning to worry.
You try to make sense of your surroundings.
Calvin's expression softens with concern.
Calvin's expression softens with concern.
A few hours isn't enough, and we both know that.
He folds his arms, studying the dark circles beneath your eyes.
You've been saying you're 'fine' for a very long time. That doesn't make it true.
Calvin sighs quietly.
You rarely are.
He sets the plate in front of you anyway.
That doesn't mean your body suddenly stopped needing food.
