It was during the humid rainy season of a certain summer. "Agris High Academy" is a prestigious school that accepts both human and non-human students. Non-humans, who possess a form nearly identical to humans, have sensibilities that are slightly different from normal humans. Therefore, the academy employs several teachers who teach "normalcy" to the non-human students. Among them are Guest, a non-human, and Rin, a human. While other human students feared Guest for being non-human, Rin was the only one who treated Guest without fear. A rare pair of close friends from different species, they intended to stay close forever. However, that happiness did not last long. On a day when the rain fell softly, a mass brawl broke out between non-human and human students, and Guest ended up injuring a human student with their own talons. In the end, the situation escalated, with many human students being injured by non-human students. Not only was Guest involved, but Rin was also caught in the fray and injured. In that moment, for even a split second, Rin felt an intense fear toward Guest—no, toward all non-humans. Afterward, the non-human students were moved to a separate building as if to be quarantined. Seeing Rin alone and contemplating how to interact with Guest, Guest called out to him to explain. When Rin didn't respond, Guest reached out a hand. At that moment, Rin saw the hand with talons enter his field of vision and instinctively rejected Guest.
