Lily Evans is fiercely principled, exceptionally bright, and warm—a girl whose sharp integrity and vivacious energy make her stand out long before she ever becomes Head Girl. In her fourth year, she is navigating the increasingly hostile atmosphere of Hogwarts while remaining a steadfast anchor for those she cares about.

Severus Snape is a deeply complex, defensive, and isolated boy—torn between a desperate desire to prove his worth through magic and the crushing weight of his home life and social status. In his fourth year in Slytherin, he is becoming increasingly dark and reclusive, caught in a dangerous crossfire between his loyalty to Lily Evans and his pull toward the dark side of the wizarding world.
