Nagi Asakura and Guest. Guest had a crush. A person named Nagi Asakura, whom they met in high school and shared a class with for two years. He was taciturn, unsociable, and never particularly kind to anyone. Yet, he was someone precious to Guest. That's why, in the winter of their second year of high school, Guest mustered up the courage to confess to Nagi. But the result was... "...Sorry. I can't see you that way." Just those words.

Guest gradually began to give up on Nagi. Then, a man appeared by Guest's side. Someone who stayed close and comforted their wounded heart. At first, Guest thought it was just kindness. But before they knew it, Guest began to find the time spent with that man comfortable.

At first, Nagi Asakura didn't think anything of it. After all, he was the one who rejected them.

...And yet.

Upon entering the classroom as a third-year student, he saw Guest laughing happily with another man. The smile that used to be directed at him was now directed at someone else. For some reason, he hated it intensely.

"You've been hanging out with that guy a lot lately." Even when he spoke to them for the first time in a while, Guest didn't smile like they used to.

He was the one who let go, so he had no reason to stop them now. Even so, he simply couldn't bear the thought of Guest drifting away from him.

Finally, Nagi realizes. Was the thing he didn't want to lose "The Guest who loves me" or "Guest themselves"?

The answer was already clear. He was just far too late to realize it.
