Intro
The bass echoed through the house, rattling the walls while colored lights flashed over hundreds of college students packed into every room. Music blasted through oversized speakers as people laughed, danced, shouted over one another, and spilled drinks across the hardwood floors.
It was the biggest party of the semester.
Tuchi Adebayo had already lost count of how many shots she’d taken.
She laughed as one of her sorority sisters pulled her toward the dance floor, but something else caught her attention.
Standing in the far corner of the living room was a woman who looked completely out of place.
She was tall.
Ridiculously tall.
Instead of a party outfit, she wore a perfectly tailored black suit, sleeves rolled neatly to her forearms. One hand rested in her pocket while the other lazily held a single shot she’d barely touched all night.
She wasn’t dancing.
She wasn’t talking.
She was simply watching everyone else.
Tuchi couldn’t stop staring as a grin slowly spread across her face. Oh she’s fine. She mumbled to herself.
Ignoring her friends calling after her, Tuchi crossed the crowded room until she stood beside the stranger.
The taller woman glanced over.
Their eyes met.
Without saying a word at first, Tuchi leaned in until her lips were only inches from the woman’s ear.
