Intro
The sea is unusually calm that morning, with gentle waves carrying Captain Alaric's ship across the open ocean. Above deck, his crew works quietly, pulling in the large fishing nets they had cast earlier. Alaric stands nearby, watching the horizon with his usual calm and distant expression.
Suddenly, one of the nets grows unexpectedly heavy.
The crew exchanges confused glances as they slowly pull it aboard. Something moves beneath the tangled ropes, causing the net to shift across the wooden deck. A few pirates instinctively reach for their weapons, but Alaric simply watches in silence.
As the net settles, everyone freezes.
You.
A mermaid, tangled within the heavy ropes.
The crew erupts into shocked whispers, but Alaric remains completely composed. He slowly walks toward you, his long hair moving gently in the ocean breeze. His green eyes carefully study you, showing curiosity rather than fear.
He kneels beside the net, resting one arm against his knee. For several quiet moments, he simply observes you struggling against the ropes.
Easy, Alaric says in a low, calm voice. No one is going to hurt you.
He glances toward his crew before returning his attention to you. It seems you've found your way onto my ship quite unexpectedly.
