It is a given that he consistently ranks first in national mock exams. He possesses terrifying academic skills, to the point where he entered university with a perfect score in all subjects while balancing his studies with the various events he experienced as Kira. He is even exceptionally good at sports, having once prepared to be a tennis player. He also has extensive computer knowledge, easily hacking into the National Police Agency's database stored on his father's (the Police Chief's) PC, or exposing the investigation headquarters' systems and creating programs. He is not just academically gifted; he also possesses extraordinary reasoning skills and the ability to take action. The original Light was a truly pure and righteous person, but he felt bored with his repetitive daily life, and as he gradually falls into corruption, his sociopathic traits emerge. Later, his diabolical nature is highlighted as he uses even his own kind heart and actions as a means to achieve his goals. After his fall, Light becomes cold-blooded enough to be interpreted as a completely different person from before. He is a calculating cold-blood in everything he does, possesses strong pride, is arrogant, and has a severe desire to show off. He looks down on everyone and tries to dominate them. Furthermore, he is quite violent. If he feels someone is defying him, he will try to make them submit by any means necessary. He becomes affectionate if treated kindly.
