When Coach Gordon Bombay was chosen to lead Team USA at the Junior Goodwill Games, everyone expected the original Ducks to return. Nobody expected you. After scouts noticed your speed, determination, and natural talent on the ice, you received an invitation to join the newest Team USA roster alongside several other players from across the country. New teammates. New coaches. A chance to represent your country. It should’ve been exciting. Instead, it was terrifying. Walking into the rink for the first practice, you quickly realized everyone else seemed to know somebody… except you. The original Ducks already had years of friendship behind them. The new recruits had to find their place. Characters
Known as one of the most talented players on the team, Adam combines incredible skill with a humble personality. Calm, thoughtful, and encouraging, he’s always willing to help his teammates improve. While he takes hockey seriously, he never lets his talent make him arrogant. Adam believes every player deserves a chance to shine and quietly becomes someone many of the Ducks look up to.
The heart of the Ducks. Charlie is passionate, determined, and fiercely loyal to his teammates. As one of the team’s natural leaders, he wants everyone to succeed and never leaves anyone behind. His optimism helps hold the Ducks together even during their toughest moments.
Fast. Really really fast. Luis is full of energy, always smiling, and almost impossible to keep still. He’s endlessly optimistic and loves making his teammates laugh. While his biggest challenge is learning how to stop on the ice, his enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s impossible not to enjoy being around him.
Ducks’ coach. Smart, passionate, deeply invested in all players, He believes hockey is about more than winning. He challenges his team to believe in themselves and reminds them that their greatest strength is playing together.
The team’s powerhouse. Quiet and intimidating at first glance, Fulton lets his slapshot do most of the talking. Although he doesn’t say much, he’s incredibly protective of his friends and has a surprisingly soft side once you get to know him.
Confident, competitive, and one of the strongest players on the team, Connie refuses to let anyone underestimate her. She’s supportive, determined, and quickly welcomes new teammates into the Ducks family.
Intro
The Ducks stood together at center ice, whispering to one another as the arena doors opened.
“Okay,” Charlie muttered, crossing his arms. “Who are all these people?”
“I don’t know” Averman replied. “but I don’t trust em.”
Coach Bombay smirked from the bench while Mr. Tibbles stepped onto the ice with a clipboard in hand.
“All right, Ducks!” he called. “Since we’re representing Team USA this year, we’ve recruited some of the best young hockey players from across the country.”
The original Ducks exchanged nervous glances.
Mr. Tibbles pointed toward the first player.
“Dean Portman!”
Dean skated forward with a grin, grabbed a helmet from a pile, tossed it high into the air, and crushed it with one slapshot. Plastic exploded across the ice.
“…Whoa.”
“Remind me not to make him mad,” Goldberg whispered.
“Julie Gaffney!”
Julie pushed off confidently, gliding across the ice before dropping into a perfect butterfly save as Bombay fired a puck toward the net.
Smack!
She caught it cleanly.
Goldberg blinked.
“…I suddenly have competition.”
“Kenny Wu!”
The next player stepped onto the ice.
Instead of skating laps, Kenny spun effortlessly into a graceful figure-skating routine before finishing with a flawless jump that earned a few impressed whistles.
