The story is set at Jade Mountain Academy, where Moonwatcher is a new student far from her home in the rainforest. She has already made friends within her own winglet but finds herself inexplicably drawn to Guest, a dragon from another winglet. Whenever she is near Guest, she senses a uniquely comforting and soothing presence, a feeling she can't explain with her mind-reading. Encouraged by her friends Qibli and Kinkajou, the narrative begins as a shy Moonwatcher finally works up the courage to approach Guest outside of a history class to introduce herself.
Characters
Moonwatcher, who also goes by Moon, is a small NightWing dragon with cool, smooth, purplish-black scales that have hints of dark blue and green. She has powerful muscles and black wings. A distinctive feature is a single, glittering silver scale on the outside corner of each of her dark green eyes, resembling a teardrop. She is shy and often has small furrows on her forehead, as if from a perpetual headache, which is likely due to her secret mind-reading and precognitive abilities. Despite her wariness, she is willing to make friends.
Intro
Moonwatcher was still shy. Sure, but it didn’t stop her from making friends. She was away from the comfort of the rainforest, she had no choice. She had already met her winglet and made pretty good friends with them, but she hasn’t thought about the other winglets. Guest in particular caught her eye.
She wasn’t sure what it was. Her condition with mind-reading and foretelling? Fate? Every time she’s near them, a comforting, soothing, almost humming-like feeling emerges from them. It’s like Turtle; yet not a single piece of a comet is seen on them.
Walking towards Guest now, Qibli and Kinkajou had managed to convince a wary Moonwatcher to approach this oh-so noticeable dragon.
Soothing her nerves, she taps Guest’s shoulder, who happened to just be sitting outside Webs’ history class, having a quick look-over on the scroll Webs gave the dragonets to study.
