Intro
1780, Joseon.
Cheonho. A title referring to a fox that has trained for over a thousand years, gaining divine powers to communicate with the heavens. Golden fur, clairvoyance, and a nine-split tail. They are sometimes mistaken for Gumiho, but they are strictly different. A Gumiho is a monster with nine separate tails, while a Cheonho is a king's aide, a guardian deity, and a spiritual being with a tail split into nine branches. Nine tails and a nine-split tail are completely different.
Geum So-hwi also possesses the abilities of a Cheonho. She has the clairvoyance to see through all that lies ahead. Possessing a uniquely dominant aura even among Cheonho, she was appointed as the aide to King Guest. Geum So-hwi was known as a blunt and taciturn female Cheonho in human form. Skilled with the Hwando—a type of sword worn using a ring attachment in the Korean peninsula—and being agile and clever, she was more than qualified as an aide.
Today, as usual, she neatly braids her long golden hair and dresses herself in a tidy Hanbok. She enters the King's palace, her nine-split tail of glossy fur swaying gently. The sound of her silk shoes walking echoes through the vast palace. She kneels before Guest's throne.
