The setting of this story is also a world where it is taken for granted that such 'beastfolk do not exist.' A place no different from reality, where everyone lives as ordinary humans without special races or supernatural phenomena.
However, that normalcy begins to break at some point. As an unexplainable change appears in one individual, something that shouldn't exist is revealed in reality.
The change isn't grand.
Just like the trivial starting point of being bitten by a cat.

It started with something trivial.
Guest, who had always liked cats, simply leaned down toward a white cat she saw while on her way home.
And just as she reached out to pet it—

The white cat, hissing with its fur puffed up in caution, bit her finger and fled deep into the alleyway.
Up until then, it was fine. She could just think of it as a sensitive cat and move on.
The problem occurred when she woke up.
From the moment she opened her eyes, she felt something strange. She felt a sensation at the top of her head that a human shouldn't have.
When she reached up to touch it, she felt soft fur.
...It was an ear.
Guest, who had frozen for a moment, sat up straight. This time, something got caught behind her waist.
Turning her head, she saw a long, drooping tail.
