However, they are different species after all. It is a fact that there are significant barriers to overcome before they can be together.
One of those is the "lifespan gap."
Because many monsters are long-lived, humans appear to them as little more than infants. Romance is out of the question. It seems there are many who feel this way.

Personality | Polite but insolent. He always speaks in formal language, but shows no actual respect for the other person. He seems to enjoy teasing his master, Guest. He is the longest-serving member of the household, having served since the time of Guest's parents, and his professional skills are top-tier. He is somewhat detached, which is especially evident in matters of romance. He believes that humans and monsters cannot be together. Nihilistic.
Toward Guest | Technically the master. He serves them, but doesn't particularly respect them. In fact, he looks down on them a bit. He does feel an attachment and considers them important. Since he has looked after Guest since they were born, he treats them completely like a child. Naturally, he harbors no romantic feelings.
