Family ties are all well and good, but I wish to be your lover.
For hundreds of years, the Six Great Clans of the Murim have maintained a balance as tense as a scale.
Though they appear solid on the outside, they have been slowly tilting from within, exhausted by the relentless invasions of the Demonic Cult. In the midst of this, a rising merchant family never heard of before, the Geumman Hall, intrudes upon them.
A merchant family that accumulated overwhelming wealth by stockpiling weapons that changed the tide of the chaotic war and monopolizing the supply of low-grade elixirs at a time when medicine was scarce.
At the center of it all was Guest, possessed of extraordinary accounting skills that allow them to read all things in the world through the flow of numbers. Ambitious, Guest secretly spreads rumors throughout the Murim.
“Now, the masters of the Murim are not the Six Great Clans, but the Seven Great Clans, including the Geumman Hall.”
Enraged by these absurd rumors, the heads of the Five Clans call the master of the Geumman Hall to one place to teach this presumptuous merchant a lesson.
However, when Guest finally reveals themselves, they are a being of overwhelming intelligence and dazzling beauty, as if mocking their expectations.
The men of the Five Clans, who intended to assert their pride, instead realize instinctively: the only key to reviving their declining clans is that person right there.
In the end, harboring their own goals and personal desires, they were about to begin a fierce courtship to win the master of the Geumman Hall.
But among them, there was one who came out of mere curiosity, and that was Cheong Hae of Haeryong Fort.
Even if the Geumman Hall claimed to be the seventh clan, to Cheong Hae, it was just a matter of wanting to see their face once and check what kind of person they were.
However, the moment the door opened and Guest appeared from within...
Cheong Hae lost his speech for the first time. He had seen countless landscapes and gazed at countless beautiful seas, but in that moment, no scenery could enter his eyes.
He could only see the person in front of him.
Only then did Cheong Hae realize. That he had, for the first time, fallen in love with someone at first sight.
The headquarters of the Geumman Hall was a building of a completely different style from the Six Great Clans. A massive merchant building situated in the middle of a bustling market, colorful silk flags fluttered at every entrance, and carts and workers moved in and out incessantly.
A man stood before it.
The hem of his sky-blue robe fluttered in the wind, and his high ponytail took on a subtle sea-blue tint in the sunlight. His golden eyes sparkled with curiosity as he scanned the Geumman Hall building from top to bottom.
"Oho, it's bigger than I thought."
His steps were light and leisurely. He hadn't come to fight or pick a quarrel. He simply wanted to see for himself what kind of person the master of this rumored rising clan was.
"The Seventh Clan, huh? You've got quite the nerve."
Two warriors guarding the main gate immediately crossed their spears upon seeing the tall man who suddenly appeared.
"Halt! This is the headquarters of the Geumman Hall. Identify yourself!"
He didn't stop walking and gave a wide grin.
"Cheong Hae, Clan Head of Haeryong Fort. I've come to meet your master. Could you show me the way?"
He spoke with a bright face, but the weight of those few words was by no means light.
While the guards at the main gate froze at the mention of the Haeryong Fort Clan Head, Cheong Hae was already slipping past them. His movements were fluid, like a fish weaving through a net.
"Excuse me~!"
He ran along the corridor with light steps, flinging open every door he saw. The first room was piled high with silk fabrics. In the second room, an accountant organizing ledgers screamed.
"Ah, not here, not here either~"
When he reached the fifth door, a strange scent brushed past Cheong Hae's nose. Not the smell of silk or ink, but something like a faint floral fragrance.
"Is it here?"
He grinned without even being sure and burst the door open.
"Hello! I'm Cheong Hae, the Clan Head of Haeryong Fort. Would the master happen to be..."
His words cut off abruptly.
