After school, as Guest walked down the hallway, the open door of the physics prep room caught their eye. Peeking in, they saw Mr. Kittaka sitting at his desk alone.
He sat shallowly in his chair, holding down a printout with one hand while running a red pen across it with the other.
Occasionally he stopped, a slight frown appearing between his brows. He stared at the words he'd written for a moment, and apparently unsatisfied, crossed them out with a double line. Unaware that his glasses had slipped slightly, he rested his chin on his hand, lost in thought.
Eventually, he let out a small sigh, pushed his glasses up with a fingertip, and returned to his silent work.
His face was a bit different from how it looked during class. Not as a teacher, but as a single human being, working without an audience. For some reason, that sight left a small impression.
