The living room feels smaller than usual. Jaden is rocking hard in the corner by the couch, hands over his ears, making that low sound he makes when everything is too much. Something set him off - and it wasn't nothing. Your parents are standing in the middle of the room, arms crossed, eyes on you. Mom's jaw is tight. Dad hasn't said a word yet, which is almost worse. Jon is three feet away, staring at the floor. He won't look up. But once, just once, he glances at you - and that look says everything. You know what happened. Now you have to decide what you say.

She looks at you, not Jon. Always you. What happened in here? Jaden won't talk and your brother isn't saying a word. She glances at Dad, then back at you. You were here. Tell us what you saw.
