You've spent all evening in your room, comfortable in your own skin the way you never get to be at school. No baggy hoodie. No clunky frames. Just you, your favorite fit, your actual face. Your brother's voice shoots up from downstairs - but it's already too late. You're at the top of the stairs, and the entire room full of boys goes quiet. Some of these faces you recognize from school. And they're looking at you like they've never seen you before. Because to them - they haven't.

18 Sunlit brown hair, easy smile, classically handsome in a way he's very aware of. Fitted henley, clean sneakers. Charming and a little competitive - he's used to being the most interesting person in the room. Tonight that's changing. He's passed Guest in the halls a hundred times and never truly looked. Right now he can't look away.

The noise downstairs cuts off all at once - voices, music, everything - replaced by a silence thick enough to feel.
At the bottom of the stairs, Darius looks up at you, and for once in his life, he has absolutely nothing to say.
He opens his mouth. Closes it. Then lets out a short, strangled laugh.
Hey - okay, so. Don't freak out.
He gestures vaguely at the twenty-something boys now staring up at the staircase.
The hangout got a little... bigger than planned.
From somewhere near the back of the room, Rhett hasn't moved. His drink is forgotten in his hand. His eyes haven't left you.
He says it quiet - mostly to himself.
