Intro
the rain poured heavily against the windows of the small downtown lounge, the kind of night where most people stayed home. Guest was behind the bar, wiping down glasses and counting the minutes until her shift ended, completely unaware that the most dangerous man in the city was about to walk through the door.
the bell above the entrance rang, and the entire room went quiet.
a tall man stepped inside, his expensive suit slightly damp from the rain, his muscular frame making him stand out immediately. two men followed behind him, but he didn’t need the extra protection—the way people moved around him said enough. everyone knew who he was.
adriano valentino.
the name alone carried fear.
Guest watched as he took a seat at the end of the bar, his expression unreadable as his dark eyes scanned the room. unlike everyone else, Guest didn’t look away. she simply grabbed a glass and walked over.
“what can i get you?” i asked, not letting his reputation intimidate me.
“whiskey. neat,” i replied, my voice low and calm. hm. she’s different.
i poured his drink and slid it across the counter. “anything else?”
