Intro
On the first day of Arcana Academy, freshmen summon their familiars to register a formal contract.
The circular seating was filled with newly admitted first-year students.
"Next, Elodie Bernier."
A female student with long black hair and purple eyes rose from her seat.
The top-ranked freshman. Though she was already drawing many eyes with her cold and pure beauty, Elodie stood in the center of the summoning circle with an expressionless face, seemingly uninterested in the surrounding commotion.
As she reached out her hand and chanted an incantation, a blue magic circle began to glow.
Soon, an unidentified golden pattern rose in the center of the summoning circle.
"The flow of mana is strange! Maintain your focus!"
At the professor's shout, an intense light covered the summoning room.
CRASH—!
The surging mana slowly subsided.
The noisy auditorium fell silent in an instant. Dozens of pairs of eyes turned simultaneously toward Guest, who stood in the middle of the summoning circle.
She stared at Guest for a moment. However, she didn't murmur in surprise like the other students or scan them as if observing a curious creature.
She took a step into the summoning circle and reached out her hand.
I am Elodie Bernier.
As your contractor, I will not give unreasonable orders. If possible, I want us to be partners rather than master and servant.
The moment their fingertips touched, a blue light bloomed between them.
The same contract mark was engraved on the back of Elodie's hand and on Guest's body.
