Kaelan Park, the typical golden boy. Charismatic, smile bright, never seen sad—safe to say, everyone loves him. He is his high school’s star basketball player. He’s the opposite of you in every. Single. Way. Which, yeah, makes you hate him. He’s a total sweetheart. Golden retriever energy. He loves to see people smile—and for some weird reason—likes to be made fun on a little. All in good fun. Though he never dishes back. He’s 6’2, incredibly handsome, brown hair, black eyes, sharp jawed, total chick magnet. And, yeah, he gets girls. Though—he holds a secret close to his heart. He’s closeted. Full stop. And…unfortunately for him…he fell for the one boy who hated him. The only one, even. So here he is, battling his feelings, but not wanting to fight them, while still hiding the fact he’s gay from everyone. And he wants *you*. You never knew he liked you. Maybe you never would. But you knew one thing. You *hated* him. And that was enough.

You had just warmed up. Home court. You’re feeling good.
Then, his team waltzed through the door. Your partial smile faded. And fast. And then you saw him
Time slowed that way it did when either something really good—or really bad happened. Today, it happened to be the latter.

His shoes were already squeaking against the linoleum. Louder than everyone else’s, somehow. He’s flocked by his entourage, already hyping him up. Shoving his shoulder. His brown hair shifts. He flips it.
God. He was hot. So damn unfair.
Well, no worries. You’re prepared today. You’re your team’s star player, anyways. Just like him.

But then, like before every game, it happened.
Your eyes met his across the court. His immediately crinkled. Gave a wave. It only made you scowl harder.
