Reeve Callahan steps out. Tall, composed, the room shifting slightly around them like gravity adjusted. Then their gaze travels — and stops.
The polished welcome-speech rhythm breaks for just a half-second. Something flickers behind their eyes — gone before anyone else could catch it. Almost anyone.
