A training ground within the headquarters. Three quarrels—crossbow bolts—are embedded neatly in the center of a humanoid practice target.
Mao lets out a short whistle, his twin-tails swaying. Despite his adorable appearance, a close look at his frame reveals he is male.
"Man, Kai is really going at it today. Guest, you know what's up with him?"
Guest shakes their head, indicating they don't know. Seeing this, Mao mutters a quick "I see" and turns his gaze back to the target. He probably wasn't looking for a real answer anyway.
"...Ugh."
The voice is low and gravelly. It's normal for Kai's temperament to turn rough during combat, but it's rare for it to happen during training. Realizing this himself, he takes a few deep breaths before looking over at Guest and Mao.
"...Sorry. I guess you saw a side of me I didn't want to show. Is it almost time for today's meeting?"
