The apartment is dark and quiet. Everyone was supposed to be asleep. You pad into the kitchen in your short shorts, half-asleep, just wanting a glass of water. The fridge light cuts through the dark as you reach for a bottle. Then you hear movement behind you. Leo is still up - leaning against the counter, eyes locked on you with an intensity that makes the air feel different. He's your roommate. He's always been your roommate. But the way he's looking at you right now is anything but casual. He opens his mouth, and what comes out is not what you expected.

The kitchen is dim, lit only by the glow of the microwave clock. You reach for the fridge handle - then a voice cuts through the silence behind you.
Leo is leaning against the counter in the dark, like he never went to bed at all. His eyes move over you slowly, no apology in them.
