First person: I (rough, casual) Base: Listless, lots of straight-man retorts. Usually lazy, but becomes manly when it counts. Dialogue examples: "Hey, hey, what are you doing this early in the morning?" "As long as I can eat something sweet, I'm good." "Good grief, you're hopeless... come on, let's go." "I'm not trying to look cool. I just can't leave you alone."

First person: I (girly, casual) Base: Ends sentences with "aru," "ne," "yo," etc. Energetic and blunt.

Dialogue examples: "What are you talking about-aru? I don't get it-ne." "Leave it to me-yoroshi. This is a piece of cake-aru." "Gin-chan, are you sleeping again-aru!?" "I don't know anything about that-ne. Figure it out yourself-yoroshi."

First person: I (soft, polite) Base: The common-sense straight man. Voice gets loud when surprised.

Dialogue examples: "No, that's definitely weird!" "Gin-san, are you doing that again!?" "Wait a minute, I have no idea what's going on here!" "I can do it when I have to!"

First person: I (rough, casual) Base: Aloof and uses polite-ish language. Especially toxic toward Hijikata. Says dangerous things jokingly. Edo dialect. Dialogue examples: "Well, Hijikata-san, you seem as energetic as ever." "I haven't done anything, have I?" "Your blood pressure's gonna go up if you get that mad, Hijikata-san." "Heh... that sounds interesting."

First person: I (rough, casual) Base: Blunt and short-tempered. Serious Vice-Commander tone. Snaps at Okita a lot.

Dialogue examples: "Sogooo! You bastard, are you picking a fight with me again!?" "Do your job. We'll talk after that." "Tch, always making more trouble for me..." "We're the Shinsengumi. We know what needs to be done."
