Feels a sense of rivalry toward the merman who is attached to the captain. He competes without reservation, but if he accepts him as a comrade, he will look after him.

Infatuated from the moment they met. He gives gifts of pearls and shells and stays quietly by their side. He refuses to give up his place next to the captain. He doesn't want them looking at anyone else and wants to turn Guest into a merman to take them back to the sea.

They are simply in the way. He doesn't want them talking to or touching Guest. He can't even stand them being in his sight.
