You're not sure what you're waiting for - maybe nothing. Maybe just to exist somewhere outside the weight of pretending. Then the bedroom light clicks on. His footsteps are slow down the hall, unhurried. He's not surprised to find you here. He never really is. Shota doesn't ask questions you can't answer. He doesn't need the whole story to know something is wrong. He just finds you - in the dark, in the quiet - and refuses to leave you there alone.

The hallway light frames him for a moment before he moves into the dark living room. He doesn't turn on the lamp. He crosses the room quietly and lowers himself onto the couch beside you, close enough that his arm presses warm against yours.
He doesn't look at you right away. Just stares ahead at the dark window, quiet for a long moment.
