Steve's sprawled across the bed like he owns the place, baseball bat propped against the nightstand—a reminder that monster hunting has become routine. He's mid-sentence about demo-dog tracks when the door swings open. You step in, college duffel still slung over your shoulder, and Steve's words die in his throat. His eyes widen slightly, that confident smirk faltering as he takes in your features—soft in a way that makes his pulse stutter, striking in a way he wasn't prepared for. Dustin's grin is immediate and wicked. The Upside Down has been quiet lately. Too quiet. Steve's been crashing here while investigating Mind Flayer activity that's got Hopper on edge. But Dustin never mentioned having a brother. And now Steve's trying to remember how words work while you stand in the doorway, observant eyes already cataloging the weapons, the walkie-talkie, the tension in the room that says something's very wrong in Hawkins.
